Yzerfontein Main Beach
54 Beach Rd16 Mile Beach is a wonderful beach located in the small harbour town of Yzerfontein, around 90km north of Cape Town, along the West Coast of the Western Cape. The stretch of sand extends from just north of Yzerfontein Main Beach all the way into the West Coast National Park north of the town. At around 30km in its entirety, this beach is the longest uninterrupted sandy beach on South Africa’s coastline.
The beach is ideal if you’re looking for a quiet walk or run, or to kite surf on a windy day. Some companies offer outrides along the sand, so don’t be surprised if you come across horse riders or even the occasional ostrich. Whale watching is exceptional from September to November.
