This is nice for a taste of the more eclectic side of Madison. Very diverse, friendly and chill local bar on one side, with hookah smoking and some relaxed seating. On Wednesday and Saturdays they have Karaoke and on Saturdays the restaurant has belly dancing performances. Delicious mediterranean food.

The Google said about this place, "down-to-earth destination for Mexican comfort food & beer, tequila & supersized margaritas". I agree. I was charmed to see that they sometimes have live music there, as well!

On Tuesdays, a great local Jazz group plays here.

Neighborhoods
Monroe Street has a few great areas with restaurants, coffee shops, and shopping for gifts or treats.
My favorite place for a mid-afternoon snack is Miko Poke, where they serve large portions of sushi bowls.
In between the hustle and bustle along Monroe is Edgewood College, where a great farmers market pops up in the parking lot on Sundays in the summer. Also in middle of there is Wingra Boats, where you can rent what you want to use to get out on the lake.

This neighborhood has the hippy-est vibes in Madison. Willy Street boasts many wonderful restaurants, bars and shopping, especially between Dickinson and Few streets. I love Rewind Decor and Willy Street Treasure Shop.
This neighborhood hosts great outdoor music festivals many times a year.

This museum is a little chameleon - you would barely notice it if you weren't looking for it. It is free and fantastic. It's set right by some beautiful UW buildings that compliment the museum experience. It's open from 8am - 8pm - that's late! I've never seen it crowded.

This is a beautiful stretch to bike, walk, run, or drive. There are trails that break off to both sides, but only one or two places where you can park.
I'm happy to help you plan out your approach and and tell you how to find the Big Spring (https://wingrasprings.wordpress.com/the-springs/).
You could rent a B-cycle bike from a rental station that is right at the beginning of Arboretum Drive if you want to enjoy the wind in your hair!
Lots of the arboretum has neat paths made of wood floating on the shallow water in amongst the tall grasses. It's cool to explore.
