Once you break out of the trees over Stinson Beach there is a small parking area, but you can also stop anywhere along the road. You could easily spend two full days here and not see and do everything this science museum has to offer. There is also a completely-in-the-dark walk/crawl/climb through experience that is amazing, and very worth doing, called the Tactile Dome. That experience usually requires reservations in advance.
