Red Mountain, above the town of Mammoth, still boasts some gold mines. The Consolidated Mine Interpretive Site is a nice walk through history. Many of the old mining cabins still stand. Across the parking lot from two excellent trail heads; Duck Pass and Emerald Lake. Only accessible by car during the warmer months
