San Sebastian is a Magic town with origins from the 16th century. With narrow and cobble stone Don't miss it, is only 1 hr away from PV. I love the restaurant La Nebulosa, their food is amazing, they used only local ingredients. Oh, their cocktails are well-crafted. Oh, don't forget to visit the mines either by car or do a 4 wheel motorcycle rental. Have fun!

Bucerias is an small fishing town, 30 mins away from PV. Beach is nice, great for swimming (no rocky). Restaurants along the beach, and horse riding if you fancy one. Many of its inhabitants practiced diving –buceo- as a sport and fishing form.  Today, Bucerías is an enchanting town with the spirit of a traditional Mexican town with cobblestone streets, brightly colored homes with enormous wooden doors and an overall feeling of tranquility.  It features striking similarities with the Puerto Vallarta of a few years ago, with excellent restaurants and a blooming music and plastic arts scene. TRANSPORTATION: For public transportation please check out Sayulita bus info.

La Cruz de Huanacaxtle is a samll town in Banderas Bay located about 20 miles north of downtown Puerto Vallarta. Beaches in the area are famous for their fine golden sand.  They are divided in five sections: El Tizate, Cruz de Huanacaxtle, La Manzanilla, Piedra Blanca and Arena Blanca, where you can admire the beauty of the sea and visit their restaurants, both typical and modern.  During the last few years La Cruz has been object of a transformation that is turning it in a center of important economic activity with the construction of several real estate developments and with the creation of the Riviera Nayarit Marina.

Better known as San Pancho, it is a small town where traditions combine with current trends. Among the activities you can enjoy are horseback riding, water sports or simply delight in its gastronomy. By its streets you can smell the aroma of coffee from different shops. Its beaches are a beautiful color contrast between the blue sea, the white sand, and the green mountains. Take advantage of such a peaceful place to pamper yourself with a massage or another treatment to ease tension from your body.

This town has beaches with warm waters where you can practice water sports. Available are canoeing, rowing, ski, sailing, and surf, but our recommendation is to scuba dive. Its crystalline waters let you appreciate the marine flora and fauna. Two captivating spots are Coral Island and Cangrejo Island. The Kiss Beach and the Turtle Beach are also a great attraction for visitors. Also, between June 19 and 27 you can attend the festivities in honor of the Virgin of the Perpetual Succor, where music, dancers, floats, and fireworks fill the streets of the town.

Definitely worth the 20 mins trip to Ixtapa to enjoy the fantastic and complex flavors of the Mexican and modern cuisine. La Tienda Grande is a 5* quality. Not the usual Mexican food that you will eat in a commercial and touristic PV area. Oh and the artisanal cocktails!

I heard amazing things about this place: perfect brick-oven pizza, frutti di mare pasta and so on. Chef Napolitano cooks only recipes passed from his Italian family. So, if you are in Bucerias, please do me a favor and go to Toscana. Don't forget to tell me about it! http://trattoriatoscanamia.com/our-menu/

YES. One of the best restaurants in the country. Ask about the specials, like the duck pappardelle or the agnolotti, and finish with a mandarin and vanilla cake with pastry cream. The chefs are restlessly ambitious and change the menu every other week, so it’s the perfect place to return to again and again. https://www.trepiatti.com/

I can't wait to try out this place. You’ll be attended by the owner, Héctor Velasco, and his entire family, who started out selling only tostadas but are now known for their taco de caguamanta (a stew made with manta ray and sometimes shrimp). That said, you won’t want to miss the burrita dorada (grilled burrito) or the shrimp or octopus tacos al pastor, which are prepared in a marinade of chiles and other spices. ($) 3222945460

I eat at Cha' countless times. I'm proud to tell you that i know first-hand ALL of their dishes are amazing. "Among them is Cha Cocina, the ideal place for brunch. The chef, Mario Borja, calls his style “cocina libre” (“freestyle cooking”). Be sure to try the torta de chilaquiles on Mexican telera bread with avocado, beans, and queso de rancho (fresh Mexican cheese); the avocado toast with egg, greens, toasted seeds, and queso de rancho; or the brioche French toast. They recently started serving dinner, from Thursday to Saturday." ($$) 3221156647

Cocktails, Spirits, Cerveza, Cafes, and traditional non-alcoholic drinks!

Get drinking this amazing spirit: raicilla. At this spot, in addition to live music at night and Wulff’s cooking, there’s now a bar that serves more than 15 drinks made with Arre Lulú, the house raicilla, among them infusions with basil, lime and passionflower, and hibiscus. It’s the perfect bar to explore other brands of raicilla, which can be found from the coast to the mountains. A few good places to start: Hacienda Divisadero, La Venenosa, and Estancia. "With or without coffee? Hot or cold? With or without milk? That way he can personalize your drink, using beans from major coffee-producing states like Oaxaca, Nayarit, Chiapas, Puebla, and Guerrero. Go with time on your hands and in the mood to chat, as Villaseñor is a great conversationalist and passionate about the world of coffee, of which he’s now been a part for four years. (Also visit Puerto Café, another one of the projects he was involved in.) The café opens weekday evenings, and Saturdays starting at noon." ($) 3222754569
