Some 3800 hectares of classic Dutch coastal dunes are being restored in this oasis less than 5km west of Haarlem. It's perfect for beautiful hikes, bike rides and swimming. Its visitor centre, "de Zandwaaier" has nature displays and is a good source of information, with a range of detailed walking and cycling maps including a great 35km circuit. Bike hire costs €13.50 per day.
There are 2 nice natural swimming locations in the park:
The bigger "Wed" close to the visitor centre and the more hidden "Oosterplas", reachable by bike or a good hike.
The Oosterplas is our favorite natural swimming place in the region.
