This is an easily accessible 20 minute walk from the Studio to stretch your legs. The track is right beside the lake. At Waterfall Creek, the offshore island is Ruby Island. Every year in January a swimming event is held that circumnavigates the island, raising funds for keeping Lake Wanaka clean and pure. From Waterfall Creek, the track connects to the Glendhu Bay track if a longer walk is on the agenda.

Roys Peak is a must-do hike for many visitors. It is visible from our property, and is 4km (2.5 miles) up the road by car. When it is dark you can sometimes spot the glow of hiker's headlamps as they negotiate the track.
It is a strenuous full day straight up and down hike approx 5-7hrs. There is no shelter or shade and can be slippery in winter. You are rewarded with stunning views, and most likely queues to catch a photo at the point.
1 Oct - beginning of November every year it is closed for lambing.
