Restaurants
Ochoa is probably one of our (and our guests) favourite bar. It’s very traditional and is run by Paco and the lovely Fina. The tapas and raciones are great with quite a vegetarian choice. (Mixed roast vegetable with eggs (ask without if you are vegan), battered aubergine and setas (mushrooms). In winter this bar still has the mesa camilla- the tables have tablecloths which hide a brasier/brasero underneath which Paco fills with hot coals from the fire. You put the tablecloth over your knees and keep warm- very toasty- but don’t scorch your shoes as I have done!
The back of Ochoa tends to be dominated by the younger crowd and in winter there’s a nice roaring fire going.

La Placeta is a newly opened bar (they used to be in a small venue across the street next to Creme.) It’s become a favourite of ours- partly due to the ever-smiling bar owners and partly due to the lovely and adventurous tapas. They offer deals such as a jug of beer and tapas combination. It’s a bit different from the older bars and attracts a fairly young crowd. The new bar is lovely inside and out and there’s a fireplace for winter evenings. They also do a menu of the day although it’s a bit dearer than Meson Diego at €15, but good value all the same.

We enjoy this place for a coffee in the winter sun. Friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Menu del dia 10€ Which often includes vegetarian and maybe a vegan option.

Bars
We love this bar - it has a very local feel. It’s especially nice in the summer evenings when there are tables and chairs out in the square. Probably the best lomo tapas in town.

El Tigre appears to be a very basic bar in that you have to stand or sit on bar stools as it’s small inside. There are two tables tucked in each corner if you want to eat a full meal. The tapas are exceptional here and Antonio doesn’t mind you requesting what you like- whereas usually you get what you are given which is fair enough as it’s free! Our guests rave about this bar and rightly so.

Walking into this cafe bar always makes me happy and I’m not sure why! It’s a character bar - a real mix of people. It’s only open until about 1pm and does a roaring morning churros trade. Cafe con leche 1€

OPEN AIR MARKET / MERCADILLO
Fridays from 9am - 1pm. A very local market selling fruit and veg, pots and pans and seasonal goods. It is not a flea market but sometimes there are one or two secondhand clothing stalls. Very popular is the rotisserie chicken and chips stall which usually stays open until around 2.30pm. You can order to collect later, if you wish.

I love it. David doesn’t! A natural hot spring with man a made catchment on the edge of the river. It’s very popular and it’s a rare treat to get it to yourselves. I love having a hot bath under the trees but I’m often saddened by the litter. The bin is regularly emptied but it can be a bit messy.
