Classic Cornish garden just a 10/15 minute drive from the house (also possible by bus) - but with it's own beach at the bottom of the valley. Cafe/restaurant both at the entrance and on the beach. Beautiful. Open Saturday through Wednesday pre-booked only for summer 2020.

If you're heading to Penzance for the open air Lido, this is a must-see too - beautiful recently planted garden with views over St Michael's Mount. Fabulous cafe and the most beautiful plant shop ever. Open Wednesday through Sunday for summer 2020.
Head across to the Roseland Peninsula for great cycling & walking. Take the King Harry Ferry then park in the National Trust car park for Towan Beach, which is one of my favourites with soft gently shelving sand and plenty of room, even in high summer. Look for the Thirstea vintage tea truck parked up near the beach, and if The Hidden Hut is open too, the food is so worth a detour for.
