The Blowing Rock, North Carolina's oldest travel attraction since 1933, is an immense cliff 4,000 feet above sea level overhanging Johns River Gorge 3,000 feet below. Beautiful short scenic walk with a garden waterfall, gardens, observation tower and unique gift shops. Open daily March - December and open weekends January - February, weather permitting.

During the war between the states, deserters from both the Union and Confederate armies reportedly hid out in the caverns. It is easily spotted from the Blue Ridge Parkway and it has a large parking area. It is a very open area with numerous picnic tables available. There are also restroom facilities onsite. E.B. Jeffress Park is only 30 minutes from Wilkesboro North Carolina or about 30-45 minutes from the North Carolina mountain towns of Boone, Banner Elk, or Blowing Rock.
