The Pinacoteca Civica, the civic art gallery of Como is located inside Palazzo Volpi, a building that dates back to the 17th century. It hosts a vast art collection, which mostly ranges from medieval times to the Renaissance era.
Visitors will have the chance to see many paintings from the 16th-18th centuries. The Tempio Voltiano or Volta Temple in English, is a museum that is dedicated to Alessandro Volta, a prolific scientist and the inventor of the electrical battery. Volta was born in Como in 1745, held his first professorship there until 1779, and retired to Como in 1819.
