For Harry Potter fans or Heartbeat, the small village and train station were both used in the filming of these. There's a few shops and cafes but not a huge amount to do but lots of moorland to explore.

You can hire a rowing boat and row along the river for a leisurely afternoon break. Steam locomotives also pass through the village station. And there’s a miniature steam railway for children to enjoy.

Did you know our combined area of the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales represents the largest protected area in the UK and one of the biggest in Europe? Now that's got to be something to celebrate!
You can walk along the old railway line to Robin Hoods Bay. The 7 mile route takes about two hours. You can also walk along the cliff top but this is a safer option in my opinion!
Start your route from behind Pannett Park at the top of Flowergate.
