These are all hikes within the reasonable area of Transylvania County. Some of these are up on the parkway, and addressed to adjacent county but they can be considered still part of the “area of”.
Looking Glass Falls
U.S. 276It’s about 2.5hrs up on way to the top of the rock. So you might want to block off a few hours.

Moore Cove Falls
DuPont has 6 major waterfalls in the park. The big three are Hooker Falls, Triple Falls and High Falls. My personal favorite is Bridal Vale Falls.

It’s a quick leisurely hike, not far from the cottage.
If your heading up to this spot, might want to hit up “Fred W. Symmes Chapel” also known as “Pretty Place”

If your out by Gorges State Park, take a look at this place. It’s where Duke-Energy does some production of hydro electricity for peek time usage. It doubles as a nature reserve also.
