Fantastic local coffee shop with locally roasted beans. Really delicious coffee with an emphasis on lighter roast beans. Also the rye dark chocolate croissant that they carry here is phenomenal.

Delicious fried chicken that apparently Oprah loves. I once saw a bus driver pull up out front, stroll to the front of the line to grab her favorite, then walk back out and onto a bus filled with passengers. Take out only.

Surprisingly tasty noodle/cocktail hangout. Odd sort of surf by way of Pacific Northwest atmosphere. There's a wall covered in fish jaws that's pretty neat.

Fancy for a pho place but their food is consistently fresh, fragrant, and delicious. The wall behind the bar has a giant poster of a wonderful record put out by an even more wonderful local record label called Sublime Frequencies. Specializing in collecting and disseminating obscure and interesting music from around the world, just about everything they put out is worth your time. Listen to Saigon Rock & Soul: Vietnamese Classic Tracks 1968-1974 on your way there.

Classic, longstanding Vietnamese takeout. Some of the best Bahn mi in the city. At only $4 for a sandwich, this is one of the best lunch deals in town.

Great local dive bar that's bounced around a few times but still retains all the dusty charm of the original. Bonus points for having the most poetic bar name in the city.
