As you crest the top of the Black Range on NM152, be sure to pause at Emory Pass Vista. You'll find truly awesome views, a picnic spot, USFS restroom, and a trail head for the Crest Trail.

Lake Valley, an historic site managed by the BLM, is open to the public Thursday thru Monday until 4pm. Located on NM 27 between Hatch (take NM26 to Nutt, then R onto NM27), Lake Valley is a former silver mining boom town, with old adobe homes, a church and former school house. Great for photographers.

On Saturday mornings, weather permitting, there is often music on the street corner.
