Tapco River Access is operated by the town of Clarkdale and is upriver from the home. There is a put in for kayaks and tubes as well as ramadas and tables by the river. There is a $5 vehicle fee. The town also operates a takeout and recreation area at Toozigoot. There currently is not a fee to use this area. There are three companies that offer guided kayak tours down this stretch of river. Verde Canyon Railroad is a scenic rail line located about 1/2 mile away. Jerome (6 miles away) is an old copper mining town from the 1880's and Clarkdale (1 mile away) a smelter for the ore from Jerome. Oldtown Cottonwood is about 5 miles and Sedona around 25 miles. Toozigoot National Monument is about 2 miles away and is an ancient hilltop Native American dwelling. Montezuma Castle National Monument (cliff dwelling), Montezuma Well, Fort Verde State Park (old Calvary Post) and other cliff dwellings are situated throughout the area. Explore Prescott, Flagstaff, the Grand Canyon and beyond.
