Food Scene
For an early dinner Phil's bistro is the finest and friendliest bar and grill in town. The staff are friendly, the food is exceptional and all are great at their crafts. From cocktail 🍹 to animal crackers it's always been a pleasant experience. Just look for the building on Butler St. with the celebration Marquis. For a wonderful breakfast, the best place in town is Ida reds located on water Street. Be sure to arrive early with cash or check only. Another great breakfast place is Blue Star Cafe in Douglas across from the Weathervane plaza. A retro atmosphere with great food and ice cream. Not too many seats so again arrive early. For a quick before the beach snack. I recommend a trip back in time to the restored Root beer barrel located in Douglas on center Street. As far as ice cream 🍨🍦 my favorites are Charlie's, Kilwins and Dairy Dayz on Blue Star highway.

Good Pizza and my favorite, a pizza with coliflower crust. All the flavor without the carbs. Fresh salads and a bar with craft beers. Harbor view from your table by the window.

Excellent menu with the best service in town. Three cozy rooms with outdoor seating. I love to go there and have appetizers for dinner and a glass of wine with those fluffy bread buns.

Go to for you daily coffee fix...all day! They deal direct with farmers in Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Central America. Fair Trade. Specialty coffees, short breakfasts and yummy house baked goods.
Right next to Mother Moon, another must visit for essential oils, reading materials and incense and crystals. Reminds me to pay a visit to my mystic place in Saugatuck.

We have beach chairs, blankets, umbrella's and toy buckets to build your own castle in the sand.

Drive and pay a nominal fee to park at the beach or for $1.00 take the Interurban bus with your beach supplies, chairs and such and get picked up when you call them.
Beautiful long beach to stroll plus nature trails into the dunes adjacent to the beach. No Lifeguards.
