Sightseeing
Ennerdale Water is the most westerly lake in the Lake District National Park and is a reservoir used for drinking water to supply the surrounding towns and villages. It is a glacial lake, with a maximum depth of 150 feet, and is ½ mile to a mile wide and 2½ miles long.
Allow at least 4 hours for this walk as the paths are rough and take quite a time.

There is a large sandy beach with a promenade and visitor facilities, and to the north are the towering red sandstone cliffs of St Bees Head; which is the only Heritage Coast between Scotland and Wales and an important RSPB seabird reserve. It is also the most westerly point in Northern England.
