If you are in the area this is a must. It is located north of our property and the road there provides spectacular views of the Central Valley.
It is located around 1 hour drive from Casa Gaudi and Dali. It is one of the most visited National Parks in the country. It is an active volcano and entrance to the part is restricted. Tickets must be bought online prior to the visit and you will only be allowed in the crater for 20 minutes for safety reasons yet it is well worth the visit. From the visitor center the crater is about 500 meters walk through a paved road.

City/town information
Alajuela city is the capital of the Alajuela Province. You can visit the cathedral and central park. Next to the central park you will find the Juan Santamaria Museum - which is a small museum to honor a local hero. A couple of blocks away there is also the Juan Santamaria Park which has a statue of our hero. Also a couple of blocks away is the "Mercado Central" where you can go in and visit local shops. If you are going to walk be mindful of your belongings in crowded spaces - especially if you visit downtown Alajuela or San Jose since pickpockets are not uncommon.

Beautiful town. Its central church is an important landmark that you must visit. There is a lot of wood workers in the area and there are many souvenir stores. If you visit Grecia be sure to also go to Sarchi which is very close by.
