Riverfront Park is the heart of Spokane. It was created when Spokane hosted the World Expo in 1974. It has beautiful scenery and walking, the famous Garbage Goat, and the infamous Looff Carrousel, built in 1909.

Manito Park is home to Duncan Gardens, beautiful lilac gardens, rose gardens, a conservatory, a duck pond, and the Japanese Gardens. It is located on Spokane’s South Hill and is a must see if you are in Spokane during the spring, summer or fall.

I HIGHLY recommend this activity if you are able. They are typically open from the end of May through mid-September.

The Hiawatha Trail is a stunningly beautiful bike trail that starts in Western Montana (5 miles across the state line) and crosses into Idaho. You can rent bikes if you do not have your own. I HIGHLY recommend this activity if you are able. They are typically open from the end of May through mid-September.
Lake Coeur d’Alene is only 32 miles from Spokane. The resort is a fun place to visit and eat at the Dockside Restaurant. There is a boardwalk that you can walk around, as well as a city park adjacent to the resort with a public beach for great swimming in the summer. Tubbs Hill is also next to the resort for hiking and great views of the lake. There are also lake cruises available.

Lake Coeur d’Alene is only 32 miles from Spokane. The resort is a fun place to visit and eat at the Dockside Restaurant. There is a boardwalk that you can walk around, as well as a city park adjacent to the resort with a public beach for great swimming in the summer. Tubbs Hill is also next to the resort for hiking and great views of the lake. There are also lake cruises available.
Palouse Falls is a 2 hour drive from Spokane. It offers beautiful views of a large waterfall basically in the middle of nowhere. There are camping and picnic spots available. It’s a great day trip.

If you like to gamble and eat some good food, Northern Quest Casino is a good choice. They offer a non-smoking area in the casino, have a great buffet, and their outdoor entertainment area gets some decent entertainment in the summer. There is also a fun zone for the kids and the “Dinner and a Movie” theater is a lot of fun!

Various Things to know

Downtown Spokane has revitalized a lot over the years. It’s a fun place to explore and walk around, both night and day. River Park Square is downtown for indoor/mall shopping and lots of restaurants. Check the weather before you head our way as it can change on you quickly, especially in the spring, so you will need to pack a variety of clothing. Spokane is pretty easy to navigate on foot, bike, or car. There are scooters and bikes for rent around the city. There is plenty to do in the city and a lot more outside the city. We hope you enjoy your visit!
