Favourite Hikes
Hikes through the forest start from the front gate of the cabin. There is a 40-minute walk if you turn left (West) at the gate and then keep turning right, which will lead you back to the front gate. A shorter walk (30 minutes) is turning right (east) at the gate and from there keep turning left, until you return back to the front gate.
There is a lovely 1-hour walk along the Blackwood River. Drive 5 minutes to the car parking area near the bridge and follow this map: https://trailswa.com.au/trails/river-walk-bridgetown
A little further away, starting in Balingup (20 minute drive) is this beautiful, longer hike: https://www.thelifeofpy.com/golden-valley-tree-park

Our favourite cafes
The Barking Cow in the main street of Bridgetown is a good cafe and has a nice ambiance as is the Mulberry Tree.
The Vietnamese Cafe – also in the main street – does good take away food and surprisingly good coffee.
The Cidery does meals as well as providing a range of boutique ciders and beers.
Our favourite restaurant is the Bridgetown Pottery Restaurant, which is open ONLY on Friday and Saturday 2-8pm. We recommend making a booking by phoning Pip at the restaurant first.
Other places to eat (but which we haven't personally tried) in the area, are Cilantros in Manjimup and the Shamrock Hotel in Greenbushes.
