A treasure-trove of historic discoveries and captivating natural beauty awaits at Cannon’s Point Preserve. The main dirt trail includes many stops, passing maritime forest and marshes, including numerous middens dating back to 2,500 BCE. The jewel of the preserve is the site of 19th century plantation ruins located approximately 2.5 miles into the trail, which in total is a 5-mile round-trip. A true wilderness experience, the terrain is suitable for all ages and also makes for great off-road biking. Make sure to check the preserve’s hours and don’t leave without experiencing the view from the top of the observation tower.

Located in Pier Village at the end of Mallery Street, the St. Simons Island Pier provides outdoor lighting along its full length, making it a great location for an evening stroll after dinner along Georgia's beaches. The pier overlooks St. Simons Sound which is visited annually by North Atlantic Right Whales, usually seen between December and March as they migrate from the northeastern United States to the calving area in the southeastern United States. Other months of the year you can spot dolphins feeding along the coast and an occasional massive cargo ship passing by on its way to deliver hundreds of imported cars to the Port of Brunswick.
St. Simons Island Pier offers tray tables and water hoses along the railings for those fishing to prepare their bait or clean their catch. Benches along each side of the pier offer a place to sit and watch fishermen and crabbers reel in their day’s bounty, or simply enjoy the views of Georgia's beaches and Jekyll Island. Only a short stroll from the local hardware store and bait & tackle shop in the Pier Village, purchasing gear or bait is easy and convenient. St. Simons Island Pier is said to be one of only three ocean piers on the Georgia coast with the others being the Jekyll Island Pier and the Tybee Island Ocean Pier.
