I personally find this place magical. It is wild, smells more intense of the ocean and there is a beautiful pathway from top to down in case you like walking. You can also park directly down (closer to the beach) but I think the old stone pawed road is just worth going.

Ir-Rużar ta 'San Ġorġ

Santo da Serra - Levada da Serra do Faial
Very quiet Levada walk. We enjoyed it very much.
This is an all day trip. Get enough water and take the cable ride trip from down town Funchal. The cable ride is not cheap but is amazing. The access to the palace is surprisingly cheaper than the ride and offers amazing day out and exploration of natural garden arts!

Mu absolute favourite place to chill with my 3 kids and get fresh fish for a local money. The sand is natural (unlike Calheta) and this place is just magical. You can walk to the Church on the top of the hill for a viewpoint (well worth it).

I personally really like Machico. Great food, gold sandy beach to chill out. Very quiet and cultural place.
