Worth a visit but if wanting to swim be prepared…this beach is very stony. Great views of the bay stretching far along to the purbeck hills and great views of the Isle of Wight. A nice trip if yearning exercise is hire a Beryl bike or scooter and cycle the entire stretch from Hengistbury Head to Sandbanks. (Approx 8/miles but all flat along the prom).

Fantastic food here including great vegan selection. Biggest choice of fries I have ever heard of! Try and get ZARA to be your waitress. She is cheerful, helpful and attentive. Her excellent service will make your evening.

Had delicious mussels here, sea bass and fish curry. Very nice sat on the balcony overlooking the beach and later the sunset. Very rustic but could actually do with a revamp. Service was good and food was good albeit you are paying a premium for being on the BEA h front.

Westbourne is located to the west of Bournemouth (5 minute drive from Bournemouth town centre). It’s well worth a visit for its array of great eateries, pubs, the best chippy in Dorset (Chez Fred’s) nice shops and stunning arcade.

Apparently Sandbanks is in the top 5 of most expensive places to live in the world.
Harry and Sandra Rednapp can often be spotted out walking their dogs on the Beach or nearby their beautiful home. Where the very rich and famous live.
Worth a visit to go to the watersports school and coffee shops. Rick stein has a restaurant here overlooking the bay and Brownsea island.
Also you can catch the chain ferry here that takes you and your car over to Studland. I would strongly advise if wanting to go to Studland, Swanage, Corfe Castle via the chain ferry to leave early in the morning. The queues can be very long on a hot day and a waste of possibly a good two hours queuing in the car. An alternative is to get the open top bus from Bournemouth train station over the ferry, past Corfe, old Harry rocks to swanage. This is where the steam train also starts at swanage railway and Is definitely worth paying for a short ride. (The journey is 9.5 miles making 3 stops including Corfe castle).
Many films have been made here including one of the Marvel films due to be released 2022.

Lovely day out. The Italian gardens are well known for weddings and parties. Japanese gardens are stunning. I worked in the restaurant here in the holidays as a young 15 year old and have never tired of visiting these gardens with the most beautiful views overlooking Brownsea Island and the Purbeck Hills.

Walk from Lulworth cove across the cliff tops to the famous arch rock of Durdle door. A stony, rocky beach so I would suggest wearing beach shoes in the sea and good solid shoes for walking down the cliff to the Door. This is fine for children as long as supervised.

Outstanding scenery. The castle hosts the famous ‘CAMP BESTIVAL’ annually. Usually the first weekend of the school holidays so would recommend visiting either side of the four day festival. Stunning views.

Brown sea Island is in Poole harbour. One of the biggest natural harbours worldwide.
Brownsea is the biggest Island amongst many smaller ones.
You can get a boat from Poole quay and have a wonderful day out walking amongst the peacocks and many other rare forms of wildlife including red squirrels.
This is a full day out and no cars are on the island.
Bathing in the sea is very safe and generally very calm.

Can either get the chain ferry from sandbanks or take the long way by road. Approximately 26 miles by road though going by the chain ferry not long at all providing you can dodge all the summer traffic by leaving early In the morning.

Sports/Fun
I worked here for many years as a Ski Instructor. A great place to visit. Not only can you have private/group lessons for skiing or snowboarding but with experience you can practice your skiing skills alone on the most technical artificial slope. There is also a pirate ship, park, ski bobs and ringos which are all fun. You may need to book in high season. Alpine restaurant. A very well equipped with exceptionally knowledgeable staff can assist you if needed in the ski/boarding shop including a wide range of boots and snowsports gear. If the beach is not calling this is a great mornings or afternoon entertainment & to practice your skills on the slopes in the midst of summer…wonderful.
