Talk about a best kept secret! Less than 4 miles from our home you will find a well maintained trail system that weaves in and around 2 different ponds. The trails are very well marked and well maintained. Northern Pond is a very fun place to take children to enjoy ice fishing too! It is loaded with pickerel. We are so fortunate to have this beautiful resource so close by.

If you are headed towards Rockland, be sure to add this fun place to your list of sights to see. The breakwater is about 1 mile out; you’ll want to wear ‘sensible shoes’ as the whole walk is on large blocks of granite.

We love Belfast for so many reasons! The food scene is great (watch Mondays, though- many places aren’t open on Mondays), the shops are interesting and the art work is beautiful! Not to mention the beauty of the harbor! A local artist told me that on Fridays from 9-1 many artists are there selling their wares. (Summer/fall only). The charm of this old city is infectious!

Check out their website and notice the troll sculptures (words fail to describe how amazing they are!). The Botanical Gardens have a full service restaurant and a delightful gift shop!

Maine’s tallest mountain and the official northern tip of the Appalachian Trail. My husband has hiked this mountain numerous times and could give you the advice needed for best routes to travel. This is a very full day, some may say ‘too full’. Be sure to chat with Sean before heading up.

You can grab the ferry at Lincolnville and take your car over to explore this lovely island. While there, you may decide to check out the nice trails on the north end of the island. There are at least 2 stores on the island as well as a 4-5 places to eat. Sean and I took our bikes over to explore- that was ambitious, but it is doable.
Plan to spend 2ish hours exploring- especially if you plan to explore trails.

Definitely worth a Google Search to see what might be playing. Parking can be tricky- we always pay the $20.00 fee for a nearby parking spot. Grab a pizza at Portland Pie before the show and say hello to our daughter Lauren. :)

The expression “Don’t like the weather, wait 5 minutes” is one that we joke about a lot in Maine. Whether you are coming in August or February, you’ll want to take a look at the weather to pack accordingly. It is no exaggeration to say that one day in the summer it might be 90 and you’ll be running the air conditioner and the next day it could be 60 and you’ll put the gas fireplace on. Mother Nature keeps us on our toes!
