Afternoon Tea & Cafe
The Saddlery serve the most delicious Afternoon Teas which will fill you up until breakfast the next day! It’s a small cafe so you’ll need to book ahead. They also offer a wider lunch and Sunday lunch menu. Not sure it’s pet friendly unfortunately.

Garden Centre, shopping, food & cafe
Our nearest garden centre is Dobbies and it’s literally one of the largest in the country. It’s pet friendly and a great wet weather visit option. They have a great food hall, cafe, gifts and garden stuff selection. They sell Earth Animal treats which we always leave for our dog guests to try so often our pet parents pop in to Dobbies to grab a few more as they are so great!

We’re really close to The Smithy Farm Shop and often walk there, but unfortunately there’s no footpath. It’s a nice farm shop, with a cafe and a few additional cabins with a variety of other traders. Unfortunately The Smithy is closed on a Sunday.

Sister garden centre to Dobbies in Atherstone. It’s slightly further away but personally think their food hall is better and they have a Lakeland kitchen store and Mountain Warehouse shop. Dog friendly also.

One of our favourite walks! Park at the cafe car park (charges apply), then walk through the woods to Bosworth Battlefield. Then through to Sutton Cheney and return back along the canal. It’s about a 5 mile walk and you end up at the cafe at the end!

Lovely place to visit for families, dog walking, jogging, water sports, bird spotting or to enjoy their cafe.
At the weekends volunteers run a miniature railway and ParkRun happens at 9am every Saturday morning. There's a lovely adventure playground for children and an outdoor gym for fitness fans.

Market town
Atherstone is a small market town famous for its hatting past. Today it’s home to lots of cafes, a large Co-op, Aldi, second hand bookshops, Costa Coffee, leisure centre and a variety of shops. Our most frequent walk is from Home Farm, down to the canal and into Atherstone which is about three miles each way, with a stop at the pet friendly Kings Head pub just as you get into Atherstone.

Food scene
This is probably the best restaurant in the area. It makes great cocktails too! You’ll need to book ahead and be ready to flex your credit card, but worth it for a special occasion.

This is a real ale haven and a real locals secret! We have walked there, but it’s about 7 miles each way! Otherwise you can drive and call Atherstone Taxis to bring you home. There’s lots of real ale, wines, cider and soft drinks, plus bar snacks. Dogs welcome but children are not!!

Really lovely traditional pub with outside seating area in the centre of the pretty village of Witherley. You will need to check they have a table if you want to sit inside and we don’t think dogs are allowed inside, but they have a great outside covered area. You can enjoy a lovely walk to Witherley which is about 4-5 miles each way and pretty much all off road. However you may need to tiptoe past some cows depending on the time of the year!

There are a few curry houses in Atherstone and this is probably our favourite. Inside the restaurant, the food and the hospitality is really great, just don’t be put off by the outside which looks a bit dodgy! If you don’t want to eat in you can order and collect, or they deliver to Home Farm.

We recommend visiting the battlefield, there’s a great visitor centre, cafe and walk around the battlefield. Dogs are welcome but not inside the visitor centre or cafe. Alternatively we recommend parking at Shenton Station, walk down the canal to Sutton Cheney Wharf and then through the woods to the battlefield. You sort of get the battlefield experience and a nice walk without paying to go into the battlefield centre!
