this temple seems like it was built the ruins of a more ancient site. the stairway is intricately with all manner of interesting creatures icons. Really something to see.
The temple itself is pretty modern.. The buddha statue a bit 'colourful' but inside many bright and colorful murals. Pity however is that nothing anywhere is translated into english.. thus you don't really get the value of the place. Suggest some advance reading before you go.

Go early in the morning or late in the evening, to see elephants and other wild life including deer, wild boar, a range of birds etc. you will have to get a safari jeep for hire (Plentiful).
