City/town information

Battle is the local town, and only a few miles away. If you don't know it, it's a picturesque town with shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. Of course, more importantly, Battle is of significant historic interest with Battle Abbey being right on the High Street. From Netherfield, go to the top of the bumpy track and turn right, a couple of miles to the t junction and turn right. You'll immediately be upon a roundabout - so for parking, take the 2nd exit which shows a dead end. On the left is pay and display parking. If you take the 1st exit, you'll be driving down the High Street. You might be lucky and find parking along there. Please see local guide for info on the area https://www.visit1066country.com/dbimgs/ATTRACTIONS%20GUIDE%202020%20-%200621.pdf

Hastings is great. Head straight for the old town - so with the sea on your right, head towards the big mound and castle. You can park near the tall black fishing huts but it does get busy in peak hours. In the daytime, the old town is a wonderful, quirky day out with cafes and small independent shops set in beautiful British architecture. If you have kids in tow, there are arcades and rides, family attractions, and of course not forgetting fish and chips! By evening (certainly on weekends), you'll find the old town bars and pubs bustling with character and music. Hastings certainly has something for everyone!
