Exmouth is 17 miles (35mins) from Manor Cottage. While not the closest beach to the cottage, it is sand and is one of the biggest. The esplanade has had some significant development over recent years and provides all you need for beach days and water sports activities - paddle boarding (Summer) and kite-surfing and wind-surfing (Winter).

Mentioned in the Doomsday Book, Talaton is a small but famous Devon village. 3 miles down the road from Manor Cottage, it is a short 7 min car journey (although I am certain you can reach it on foot using the maps provided in the cottage!!). The Talaton Inn is a popular, honest food serving pub, with a lovely community run shop opposite it. With it's beautiful village church, it is definitely worth a visit for some food, or purely to sample some Devon beer!

The Merry Harriers is an amazingly relaxed pub, serving honest ‘pub grub’ (portion sizes are very good!) and excellent local ales and ciders. Very good inside and outside eating options.
