Parks & Nature
If you like forest, driving down the hwy 9 (30 mins away) towards Santa Cruz. It will take you to redwood forest. (It's huge so you won't miss it). There are a few state parks there I've checked out. , recommending Big Basin state park. BWY, when you are in the forest, take any road like hwy35, hwy17 would give you non-stopping forest view. Go any highway to the end would bring you to the ocean. Santa Cruz is a cool place to relax, it's a small city. The west cliff road offers shoreline view (also good spot for sunset).

Sightseeing
If you have time, going south to Monterey, they have beautiful shoreline view and a fantastic aquarium there.
