Food scene
Named after a favourite Miriam Makeba song, this is a good place to hear South African live music, eat fairly typical cuisine, couched among easy burgers and salads for the more wary. From soups to the best steaks, it is alI good fare. I also think it is the best place to broach mogodu, a very South African tripe dish, the favourite of almost all local families.
The area is marvellous for visitors to join South Africans having fun and the restaurant epitomises the atmosphere, especially in the evenings when it has a Sophiatown of old (and Miriam Makeba did live there), nostalgic vibe.
