Virginia Creeper Trail – This one’s my personal favorite!! Rent a bike and take a shuttle from the quaint tourist town of Damascus, VA to Whitetop Station where you can bike a leisurely 17 miles down the mountain on the former rail bed. Don’t forget to check out Backbone Rock if you make it to Damascus!

The New River – There’s activities galore all along the river. New River State Park offers hiking trails, picnic areas and a swim beach. You’ll find several outfitters in the area offering Kayak, canoe &/or tube rentals. Dusty Trails Outfitters is less than a 10 minute drive.
