beyond Hanakapi’ai valley must possess a valid overnight camping permit. The trail to Hanakapi’ai falls and beyond Hanakapi’ai is recommended for experienced hikers only. I suggest walking poles if you are older and plan on
getting dirty shoes. The trail can be slippery and challenging.
