There is a pleasant walk down the lane from The Granary past Lower Tidderson Farm, over a small stream and along the farm track. It can be muddy in winter.

This well-maintained and pretty Devon town on the banks of the River Batherm is steeped in history. Bampton Fair, founded by Royal Charter of 1258, is held on the last Thursday in October.

A Grade II* listed Scheduled Ancient Monunment, Landacre bridge crosses the River Barle upstream of Withypool. It dates from the late medieval period and has five arches of 9 feet each. It is a great spot for picnicking and walking.
