Most of the homes and town buildings in our historic village were built in the nineteenth century, with our c.1790 farmhouse as one of a few exceptions. The streetscape is lined with large stately trees, mature shrubs, many well-tended lawns. The variety of architectural styles, including the brick Greek Revival buildings which dominate the core of the village, give stature and distinction to the district.
Exceptions to this historic setting are Williston Central School, Dorothy Alling Memorial Library and the Bandstand. These add significantly to the character of the village, bringing vitality and a sense of community.

Williston History:
People have called this area home dating back 8,000 years. The Abenaki people lived here prior to the first European settlers who arrived in the 1700s. Higher elevations, such as Five Tree Hill, were used as lookouts to site herds of caribou or deer. Wetlands and ponds, such as Mud Pond and Lake Iroquois, were rich in wildlife and served as hunting grounds. European settlement began in the early 1770s.
Present day Williston’s proximity to Burlington International Airport and I-89 make it attractive to businesses. Rich historical and natural resources, a commitment to quality education and recreation opportunities make it a perfect place to visit or call home.
