This park is a lively 5 mile scenic drive with tables and restrooms in center of park. During dogwood season it is full of gorgeous blooming dogwood trees that look like white umbrellas. Also during this time there is a fairy garden trail about 2 miles long. Fall is a lovely time to see fall foliage. Hiking is always an option

Things to do in and around our area
Palestine is a hub for several small area towns as well as near the much larger city of Tyler Texas. In The Cottage you’ll find helpful brochures about these other areas as well as Palestine. The charming town of Palestine has no busy interstate which adds to it’s ambiance. Yet, there are many great restaurants. My favorites are highlighted in your welcome book along with things to do and see nearby.

Heritage railroad museum
The heritage railroad museum is a treat for young and not so young. Museum is filled with running trains through elaborate village displays. Visitors may choose to participate in a museum scavenger hunt. My grand children and I love coming here. The museum is located in downtown across from the farmers market 808 W Oak.

The Farmers market is a fun stop
The farmers market is open Saturdays 9 to 1pm. Great place for fresh produce and locally grown flowers. You’ll also find many handmade items and baked goods. I get fresh flowers there every week during the growing season. I also find delicious homemade jams and other homemade goodies. The fruit kolaches are the best!! It is located on Main st next to the visitor center.
