This gorgeous shelf waterfall is only accessible by boat or with a private guide, but the effort is well worth it to sit in this incredible rocky canyon and hear the falls roar.

Ave Maria Grotto, in Cullman, Alabama, is a 30 minute drive from the our place, and it's a cultural experience worth having.
The grotto is a landscaped, 4-acre park in an old quarry on the grounds of St. Bernard Abbey, providing a garden setting for 125 detailed miniature reproductions of some of the most famous religious structures of the world. It's quite a sight, and a peaceful way to spend an afternoon.

Blount County is known for the preservation of covered bridges in our area. The Swann Covered Bridge is a county-owned, wood-and-metal combination style covered bridge that spans the Locust Fork River. It's a sweet place for a picnic, pictures, or just gentle exploring.
