The central market is a really fun place to spend an hour or two.
Make sure you wear good walking shoes, and bring a bag for all the things you may want to buy. This is the best place to do vegetable and fruit shopping, but you can also find just about anything you need.
You can walk to the market, do your shopping, and then take a Tuk Tuk back home.
Prices in the market are somewhat negotiable.
For anyone familiar with the markets in Asia, you will see a lot of similarities with this one.

There are two ways to get to the top. You can either walk up the steps, or go around back and walk / drive up the road.
If you are up for it, I would suggest taking the stairs. Once at the top you are offered a gorgeous view of the city and surrounding areas.

Take the road south into El Calvario, where the streets open up into a wide and charming town. There are cafes and restaurants a plenty!

A wonderful wine bar located just under the Arch. Grab a bottle, sit at the large square table and trade stories with other locals and travelers.

Actually a hotel, but they have a cafe and restaurant downstairs that is open to the public. They have delicious coffee, and friendly service.
Ask if they have pistachio pie. They don't have it every day, but it pairs perfectly with a nice coffee.
It's a very pretty inner courtyard with a nice sky view, a nice way to spend a lazy Saturday afternoon.

Food scene
One of the better food options in Antigua, which also happens to have an amazing interior, and a beautiful garden where you can enjoy your meal.
I highly recommend sitting outside in the garden near the pond.

Nice atmosphere, good drinks, good food. Sometimes they have live music, I think on Fridays or Saturdays, but best to check with them before you go.

A good place for dinner. The owner is Argentinian and you can tell by some of the food options. Overall a good place to eat, drink some wine, and chat.

A ramen restaurant that makes their noodles in-house. If you are craving ramen, this is also your only option in Antigua.

Running
A great place to visit for the day. The offer passes to use the pool and amenities.
However, I've never actually been inside. I enjoy the road as a run route. Once you head down into El Calvario area and off towards the finca it is a beautiful run on a wide street. It does eventually turn into dirt, but it's packed pretty well.
The main reason I chose this as a run route is because it gets you off of the cobblestone streets and bad sidewalks of Antigua.

Antigua is a great city for walking around
Antigua's iconic cobblestone streets are gorgeous, and the weather is typically nice enough for a stroll around town and the central park. However, the sidewalks can be dangerous. They are not kept up very well, and they are uneven, so please walk slowly and pay attention to where you are stepping. Otherwise, you may end up walking into a hole.

Bring an umbrella
Rainy season is typically from around May through August / September. It doesn't rain all day, but if you are venturing outside I would advise taking an umbrella with you.

Shop at the Central Market
The Central Market in Antigua has a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, herbs, spices, and meats. They are all very affordable. If you don't mind cooking you can save a lot of money while visiting Antigua.
The city itself offers many options for food, but they can be rather expensive (relative to the local economy).
