Scarred landscape from the 1964 Earthquake, and access point to the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, located a 15 minute walk away. Weird undulating topography with fun trails through the woods. Great place to see a moose! If you check it out in the summer, heads up: MOSQUITOES! But long sleeves and pants will make them tolerable.

Wayfinding
A simple tip that applies in all of Anchorage. The (close) mountains are always to the east.

A light raincoat is a must!
Anchorage can have fickle weather. If you don't like it, wait five minutes and it'll change. Throughout the summer, and especially in the fall, rain can be expected. We rarely have heavy rain, but it can be enough to be uncomfortable - unless - you happen to have your trusty, lightweight raincoat.

Neighborhood cut-throughs
It might seem like a car-dominated place, but there are a bunch of hidden pedestrian cut-throughs throughout the neighborhood that make walking very efficient. For example - head down to the end of the street. It's only a dead-end for cars!

Shopping
Anchorage has a ban on single-use plastic bags. There are reusable shopping bags located in the house for your use and convenience.
