Food scene

Among the burgers and ribs, the menu has some ethnic specialties: a cabbage dish and a pasta dish (spaetzle cu branza, varza saseasca) that have Saxon origin, at least two Hungarian dishes (borzascka, gulas) and some traditional Romanian dishes (zacusca, fasole frecata, mamaliguta cu branza si smantana). They have a nice terrace and a pretty nice view. Not central, in a neighborhood where half of the real estate is an urban forest. Try the garlic soup (supa crema de ustoroi) or the mushroom soup (supa crema de ciuperci). Or the fried trout.

Welcome to Medias, also known as "Little Italy", since there are - at least - 15 pizza places in town. One of my personal favourites is Lostria Papageno. I know, they totally messed up the writing of the first word, but their pizza is good. Personal fav: order "Pizza Papageno". It has no meat.

Drinks

Located on "the most beautiful street in Medias", this place is nice at any time during the day/night. Grab a coffee or a cocktail. Or some Transylvanian sparkling wine (ask for "Friza" and think if you want a "white" one or a "rose" one).

Sightseeing

This place has a lot of nice & interesting features, like: - it still has its first ring of walls (which is not that common for a city church ) - a lot of frescos from the era before the Reform - the catholic tower (Maria's Tower) can be visited - they opened the old medieval prison, which is..inside the first ring of walls There is always a guide at the entrance of the church and they will be more than willing to give you a quick or a long tour. (Entrance is 10 lei/adult). Also, make sure to ask about the "Green Man" and prepare to be surprised! :)

Fan of "beautiful decay"? Curios about how an abandoned place is being revived when there is no Jewish community left? Book a visit here.

The only tower that you can visit! Give a call (you'll find the number on the door) and after 5 minutes you will be admiring Medias from up. Also, this one is an undercover art gallery, so don't miss the spider web paintings done with spider web which made their way into the Guinness World Records.

The stained glass windows. I cannot stress this enough. Also, the Rococo altar, one of the biggest in Transylvania.

Pariri dwar il-belt

Kif tista' tmur minn post għall-ieħor

The old town is pretty small

So, if you book your accommodation nearby, you can walk everywhere: to the park, to the market, to the forest, to the river.
Drawwiet u kultura

It can look pretty empty after 4 PM

This is a town where people are at work at 7 AM and leave work at 4 PM. So if you come in the afternoon, you'll notice the empty market, the small shops closed. It gets a little animated around 7 or 8 PM, but generally it's all peaceful here.
