1841 Coffee
My favourite place for coffee in the West End.
Excellent bakery selection too and the staff are very passionate about coffee.
It helps that it is at the end of my street too.

Another Coffee Gem.
39 Otago Street
More of a walk, but I enjoy sitting in their terrace if warm enough or enjoying their delicious coffee inside.

Aside from 3 Excellent bars and its rooftop terrace bar there are also
2 restaurants (operating from the same kitchen)- a fancy ‘sit down-stairs’ more expensive menu for experiencing Scottish cuisine or ‘more relaxed sit upstairs Scottish food’ scene.

Trendy food spot at the the end of the street. Small plates, Asian influenced. They have a excellent banquet menu if there are 4 or more where you get to try a lot from the menu. Go hungry because it is a lot of eating! There is a good selection for vegetarian too, hispi cabbage and oyster mushrooms are excellent. If you eat meat, then the spicy caramel chicken is a must.

Good place for when you need a bit of ramen to heal/cure/restore you.
I think it is the best ramen available to you in Glasgow. Their are plenty of other options out there, but this wins on proximity/menu/taste.

Weather plans
Unless the Met office has clear skies all day long, its always useful to have a pair of shoes that wont let in water and a ‘pack-away-light-water-proof-jacket’, because sometimes you can just get caught out, cold wet clothes and feet are never a good combo.

Taxis
They are on the whole a cheap and efficient way to get around the city.
You can use Uber, although I’ve been experiencing long waits with them so I would recommend ‘GlasGo Taxi’. They seem to be more reliable. But you can also download their app (search ‘GlasGo on iOS/Android) and compare them to Uber wait times.
Alternatively the Black taxis can be waved down if they have their light on.

Getting around
I find the easiest way to get around is to use the NextBikes that are parked around the city.
You will have to sign up to use them and they need to be deposited at their drop off points.
There are 2 drop off points within 5-7min walk of the flat and most of the important sights about the city will have Next Bike Stations directly outside or near them.
