Sightseeing - Dunfermline

Dunfermline is the ancient capital of Scotland and was recently awarded city status during the Queen's Jubilee celebrations. The city centre, with a variety of High Street ships, is 5 minutes walk from the flat and all these suggestions are easy walking distance.
Beautiful park, gifted to Dunfermline by the philanthropist Andrew Carnegie. Lovely variety of walks, children's playpark and squirrels who love to be fed. There's also a weekly 5k parkrun every Saturday at 9.30am.

Historic ruins as well as the impressive functioning Abbey are well worth a visit. Robert the Bruce was buried in the abbey in 1329.

In addition to the obvious attractions of Edinburgh, which is in easy travelling distance from Dunfermline, the local area of Fife has many hidden gems worth exploring. Here are a few select highlights to consider.

Great place to view the the forth bridges. The rail bridge is particularly spectacular at night. It's possible to walk across the Forth Road Bridge. Boat trips on the Maid of the Forth are also recommended.
