Most visitors to Amsterdam often only stay at the touristic city center, which is such a shame. Here is a guide to Oud-West Amsterdam, my favorite neighborhood.

Small bites
Our go to place for a drink! Also possible to come for coffee, tea and a work session.
The sunny terrace spreads over the deck into the canal water. No matter what time of the day, this place is busy with locals and cool people. Great for drinks, coffee and a bite.

Hyped hyped bakery stop! Must try their croissants (topped with ice cream during summer!) Expect a line (goes quickly) on the weekend!
Sourdough bread is proofed here for 26 hours (!) for extra lightness, flavour development and good digestibility. Plus they bake all those breads, cakes and croissants right in front of your eyes.
Everything is super fresh to take home, or eat in front with a nice coffee for a good people watching. If you're lucky during summer, you may try their croissant-ice-creams!

Part of must-do lists of Amsterdam, the Foodhallen hosts curated international cuisine in a lively atmosphere with Djs on some days.
Food is okay and it's sometimes too crowded with tourists which makes it hard to find a seat. But we still think it's worth to drop by for some snacks and drinks.
Bonus: there's also a cinema!
Bonus2: many people don’t know, but at the back in the Kanary restaurant there are workstations and a sand area for summer vibes

Yum! Open until 11pm. Ricotta fig is their most popular flavour but my absolute favorites are dark chocolate (vegan) and pistachio <3

Dinner & drinks place of the cool Amsterdam kids. The food I find a little bit hit and miss, but the vibe is always nice: views on the park and has an extensive wine selection
Local tip: they just opened a bakery next door, that often hosts tapas and wine tastings

Passeio turístico
We are lucky to be within walking distance of 3/5 parks in Amsterdam! Each have very different vibes but are equally charming. On a nice day, picnic-ing in the park is a must.
Vondelpark is the most famous and therefore busier with tourists. One round is a little over 3.3km. Be sure to check the rose garden during summer. There's a playground with a bar/cafe attached called Vondeltuin.
Rembrandt park is my favorite: more nature and green, and an animal farmhouse in it! Ideal for kids
Erasmuspark: smaller but very charming. Its a neighbourhood-y vibe and playground attracts many families. There's a cafe with a fun summer schedule, live music, workshops - be sure to check.

Shopping
Vintage and second hand stores are the foundation of Amsterdam's fashion. The city's style is casual, easy-going that prioritises comfort above all. This is a nice shop to get a feel for it.
