Our favourite hiking trails and beautiful nature walks nearby
SILVERMINE NATURE RESERVE
This is one of my personal favourite early morning hiking spots. The reserve is popular during the warmer months for its beautiful hikes and picnic spots next to the dam, but the wild nature of the surroundings are equally highlighted in winter when the mist lies low above the fynbos and the rain turns everything green.
Pack a hiking bag and picnic basket, take cash (entrance is roughly R40 p/p). Drive through the pay gate and turn left where you will find a parking area.
Walk and ride
Both the east and the west side of the reserve offer lovely walks while the mountain bike trails are only on the west side. The walks all start out with clear maps and are well-marked. There’s everything from a short stroll around the reservoir to longer treks that will take you through the plethora of fynbos and past panoramic viewing spots. Pick up a map at the entrance, the various routes are clearly illustrated to keep you on track.

Long Beach
Great beach for surfing and long boarding
This is probably our favourite place to spend the day and take the kids. It’s one of the most beautiful places in Cape Town in our opinion. An very rare opportunity to swim and sun bath with the African penguins in their natural habitat. A very special and magical place indeed.

Boulders Beach
Kleintuin RoadThis is probably our favourite place to spend the day and take the kids. It’s one of the most beautiful places in Cape Town in our opinion. An very rare opportunity to swim and sun bath with the African penguins in their natural habitat. A very special and magical place indeed.
Food Scene
The Noordhoek Village is our favourite food a lot for grabbing fresh bread in the morning from The Foodbarn and farm fresh produce from Metro Organics next door. We also love grabbing a juice from Faith Juice. It’s great for kids with a jungle gym. We highly recommend grabbing a come from Kristen’s Kick Ass ice cream (vegan friendly options too).
