Sightseeing

Southbourne beachfront is quieter than the one in the main town centre. Hengistbury Head further along approximately 60 minute walk from the house or easier to park at to then explore the area is a lovely walk with view of the beach and christchurch.

The newforst National Park is a 30 minute drive with excellent forest walks, small towns and country pubs. We particulary enjoy walking at fritham (Royal Oak Pub), boulderwood and Rhinefield House surroundings. There are also good cycle paths in the forest and bikes can be hired from Burley. Small towns such as Burley, Lyndhusrt and Lymington can be worth a visit.

Neighbourhoods

Southbourne is our bustling local high street, full of independent shops, bakery, deli, great cafes, pubs (including micro-pubs with excellent beer) and even its own bookshop. From our house it is a short ten minute walk and has everything you need. Southbourne has developed significantly over the past few years and has become a very popular and highly sought after place to be. Having said that, it is not overhwlemingly busy and has a great atmosphere. From the high street the beach is a pleasant stroll through Fisherman's Walk and down the cliff top where the beach is much quieter than the centre of Bournemouth. We have tried all the eating places so ask us for recommendations! Some of our favourites include Larder House, Makla, Chef Carlos, Brewhouse and Kitchen (great for a pub meal)
