is the museum of the city and its territory, it exposes one of the richest and most interesting collections of works of art produced by artists born in Lucca and foreigners artists that worked in the city for the private or Church commissions. The core of the collection are the paintings who were originally Church property combined by the finds from excavations in the city, new acquisitions, gifts and deposits of various entities. In the late Gothic Villa, which was the home of Paolo Guinigi, Lord of Lucca in the first thirty years of the fifteenth Century (1400-1430) the exhibition traces the history of the city
