Beach, Hiking, Birds, and Sunset
So many things to do! Walk the Sand Dune Beach rock hunting, sunbath on the rolling dunes, hike the wooded trails in the recreation park or the preserve, see the gorgeous woodland area in every season, go birding and see all the different species local to the area. Bike on a paved trail to Harbor Springs, or Boyne City for a day trip. Read a book overlooking the lake. Play tennis or pickle ball. Launch your canoe, kayak or paddle board a half block from the cottage. And finally end the day, with an incredible sunset over Lake Michigan! You will have a wonderful playground of things to do right in the neighborhood! What more memorable of a vacation could you ask for?
Mt. McSauba Recreation Center's Disk Golf course runs up and down the Mt. McSauba Ski Hill, through the woods and past the skating rink for a challenging game. It's natural setting takes advantage of the terrain and many different obstacles to make play interesting.

Peaceful and back to nature is the best way to describe this gem of an area! People have not found this pristine preserve yet and it is little known, which makes it nice and private. And the trails are amazing!

There are marked hiking trails, rolling sand dunes with a vast beach, and the start of the Whirlway paved bike path to Petoskey. Lots to do without ever going to town!

My absolute favorite place to go! They have fresh whitefish from John Cross Fisheries right here in town (I like it broiled) with lemon caper sauce that I get every time! Their scones are fantastic too. Plus, the old fashioned decor and eating in an old 1800's house is so quaint. It is fancy without having to really dress up. My husband, Jim, loves the "Hanger Steak". And the service is always top notch!

You can dine in or carry out. There is a nice outside eating area too and it is right downtown. In the fall and winter months Terry makes an unbelievable pot pie on Thursdays. You can hear it all down the street: "Pot Pie Thursday at the Villager!!"
Another FAVORITE of mine!! The whitefish Grenobois is fresh and flaky and a generous portion with a delicious sauce. the atmosphere is elegant yet casual. My husband always has the New York Strip and has never been disappointed. A true gem for out town.

Great stop for lunch! The Northern MI Cherry Chicken Salad Sandwich and the Hamburger are our favorites! The soup of the day is always a winner. You can get a half sandwich and a cup of soup for a good deal.

But, to narrow it down, my favorites are the cherry malted balls (just like whoppers but larger and cherry mixed in with the chocolate!!), and the sour cherry gummies. and the cherry wine! Oh and the cherry salsa and maybe the cherry trail mix... is that too many to call "favorite"? But you get it... they have so many products, how can you pic one as a favorite or even 10? You have to stop in when in town! Promise?
