Local potter true craftsman inspired by the love of working with clay for over 25 years ... here's an extract from his recent blog ... I have recently built a large wood-fired kiln and these pots are the beginning of a journey of exploration. For over 25 years I made repeated items as part of a catalogue range. Now I am making pots in groups or families and I am embracing each as an individual. By using a variety of glazes, often made with local and found materials, along with a selection of slips prepared from clay dug at the pottery, I see unlimited variation and possibility. The added unpredictability of firing with wood adds an extra challenge and thrill to it all. Just sometimes, pots of immense beauty are offered by the fire – it is this hope that makes me continue and look forward to the next 25 years! You can visit Nick and see him at work in his studio!
