Nearest town for amenities, including award-winning butchers for local organic produce. Several nice cafes, incl Galloway Soup Co., & the lovely Red Squirrel shop full of lovely things. Town Wood, part of the Dalbeattie Forest, has a handy car park & trails for bikes & walks with markers. A children's adventure course is at the start of the woods

Lovely big sandy beach. Parking & shop/toilets. Can walk here across cliffs from Kippford/Rockcliffe. Interesting feature is the triangular old bombing platform out in the bay (used for targets in WW2 - I think)
