Located right smack in the middle of the Meatpacking District, this place has good seafood and cozy atmosphere. Also, in the summer they have beach chairs outside, giving you the best sun spot in the asphalt jungle.

Everything is organic here – even the vodka! – so menus change according to the season. If you have trouble finding the place, just look for the giant BOSCH neon signs. (As with everything else in the Meatpacking District, the neon signs have been deemed worthy of preservation, imposing strict rules on what the current owners can do.)

Another one of the Meatpacking District’s good restaurants, everything here is cooked on charcoal (hence the name, which is Danish for ‘coal’).

This is an Icelandic franchise with locations in Reykyavik, London, Berlin and now Copenhagen. It’s one of the small country’s few enterprises to have survived the economic bust – and supposedly one of the few to drive McDonald’s out of business when the Golden Arches tried to invade its home turf. Rumor has it that the burgers are “greasy but good”.

If you're here during the summer, you should stroll through Kødbyen's open-air food market on the weekends. From their stalls and booths, vendors offer gourmet delicacies ranging from locally produced honey to exotic faraway dishes. Also, there's a DJ playing lounge music and lots of local Copenhageners to meet and greet if you sit down at one of the long tables.

Mikkeler began as a micro brewery, but has become so succesful that it’s now sold in New York, Singapore, London and God knows where else. Fortunetely we can still have it here in Copenhagen. Cheers!

Parks & Nature
With its castle-like front wall, Skydebanen -- the Shooting Range -- looks like a set piece out of a Robin Hood movie. I used to wonder why only a single wall of the castle was left standing. Then I learned that there never was any more. The wall was erected as a barrier to keep passersby safe from stray arrows when the king and his men practiced archery. Today, Skydebanen is part playground, part park. It's a nice place to experience local families -- or to pretend to be one.
